Organizers announce plans for Yeti run's 2019 edition
County Press and Western Runners Club team up again to chase away the abominable snowman
Each year the Western Runners Club organizes the Goodbye Yeti event to symbolically chase the abominable snowman back to wherever it hibernates, so summer can begin.
Yeti Day races include a traditional 5k as well as the Kids' Half Mile. Both finish on a long straightaway into downtown Parma. The Kids' Half Mile is specifically designed for elementary school-aged kids.
The Hello Spring Goodbye Yeti 2019 is scheduled for March 23 and all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate.
This enthusiastic event often includes a costume and/or spirit contest and though many runners are high school aged (the WHS track teams will be there en masse) good fun and a quality run are sure to be had by participants of all ages.
Also, participants who wish to walk or push a stroller will be welcomed and celebrated. It will be a beautiful day to get out and celebrate fitness.
For a decade the WRC has supported fitness in the community by organizing events like the Goodbye Yeti road races, and by providing support to Western School District's cross country and track and field programs at Western's schools. Since the beginning, County Press has been an ardent supporter of WRC and its mission.
