Hello Spring Goodbye Yeti 2018 to include new event: the Michigan Ave Mile
Each year the Western Runners Club organizes the Goodbye Yeti event to symbolically chase the abominable snowman back to wherever he hibernates, so summer can begin. This year in addition to the traditional 5k run/walk/stroll the WRC is organizing The Michigan Ave Mile. In the Michigan Ave Mile, runners will start at the corner of Michigan and Hendershot, and proceed in a straight line to the finish line on Main Street in downtown Parma.
The Hello Spring Goodbye Yeti 2018 is scheduled for March 17, and all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate.
This enthusiastic event often includes a costume and/or spirit contest and though many runners are high school aged (the WHS boys track team will be there en masse) good fun and a quality run are sure to be had by participants of all ages.
Also, participants who wish to walk or push a stroller will be welcomed and celebrated. It will be a beautiful day to get out and celebrate fitness.
For nearly a decade the WRC has supported fitness among the Western School District community by organizing events like the Goodbye Yeti road races, and by providing support to the cross country and track and field programs at Western's schools. Since the beginning, County Press has been an ardent supporter of WRC and its mission.
